EE2009INtertitre_group

For this sixth edition, the participants of INM's Summer School will have to think of themselves as if they were in power. On the various Group Projects offered, the participants will have to develop their ideal program, reflecting their own priorities regarding the world they want to live in.

The Group Projects are aimed at providing you with the tools and knowledge to become active citizens. Each of them is mentored by dedicated people, impassioned by their professional and social engagement.

There are four major Group Projects structured around four pillars: active citizenship, social economy, arts, and the media. If you read French, click here  for more information.  Group Projects will be held in French, so here's your chance to practice it! However, if you do not feel comfortable enough with Moliere's language, we have a bilingual Group Project for you on the theme of the experience and the management of cultural diversity.

The Group Projects will proceed as follows:

  • Three three-hour sessions, one per day from 12:00 to 3:00pm, on August 27, 28 and 29. IMPORTANT: participants must eat together on site (meals are included in the registration fee).
  • The fruit of your work will be debated in an Assembly in order to validate your ideas. This will done on Sunday, August 30, from 9:00am to 10:30am.

Do you feel that our leaders are not representing your values? Do you not see yourself in this society and do you not agree with the direction it is taking? You think politicians should listen to your ideas? So... what would you do if you were them?

For four days, we are offering you the possibility to replace the politicians and other experts on the matter in order to create YOUR ideal program for a better society. It is time to put forward your own values, to propose collective actions and to claim your ideas!

Participants in this Group Project will have to choose one among five themes to orient their work: Cultural Diversity, Democracy, Education, Environment, and Social Justice. If you read French, click here for more information. If you are not comfortable enough with your French, Cultural Diversity is for you!

Group Project on Cultural Diversity

As a member of a minority in Quebec you are certainly aware of the complexity of intercultural matters, and preoccupied by their management. We have organized the Group Project on Cultural Diversity for you to contribute your ideas on the matter. Together with Francophone, Anglophone, Aboriginal and Immigrant participants of all cultures, you will contribute based on your own experience and discuss issues of openness to difference, of majority-minority relations, and of differentiated treatment. This is THE opportunity to exchange constructively on what we can do all together to make things better. There will be simultaneous translation in French and English for this activity.
