An unprecedented forum on Quebec culture

MONTREAL, January 31, 2007 – Members of the media are invited to attend, on Friday, February 2, the opening of an unprecedented forum on Quebec culture: the Strategic Rendez-Vous on Quebec Culture, organized by the Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM). The theme is What is Quebec culture becoming? What do we want it to become? The honorary chairpersons for these meetings for the greater Montreal area (Montreal, Lanaudière, Laurentians, Laval, Montérégie) are author Dany Laferrière and Louise Sicuro, president and director general of Journées de la culture.

The general public is invited to come and participate in a roundtable discussion with prominent figures, such as sociologist Guy Rocher, Michelle Labelle, sociology professor at UQAM, Vania Jimenez, physician and writer, and lawyer Marc Gold, member of the executive committee of the Tolerance Foundation. The specific theme of this first meeting is Quebec culture: a common culture or a mosaic of identities?
